Our client, a leading global investment bank, who has expanded their business rapidly over the past 5 years and is at the forefront of product development is now looking to hire well experience candidates to head their Equities valuations team. The business trades the full product spectrum from listed and over-the-counter (OTC) vanilla options, warrants and structured notes through to complex exotic derivatives tailor made for customers. It is one of the more sophisticated and complex of its kind in the market and it continues to grow in volume and complexity.

This position offers considerable scope and breadth of role for the right individual with its demanding accounting and technical challenges.

The successful candidate will support the growth in the business, ensuring products are booked and valued correctly and appropriate reserving methodologies are applied. They will be involved in process development as well as new business review and will demonstrate drive and enthusiasm for complex products and a clear control focus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Review and approval of model documents as a part of the model control process

• Summarize models to meet product controllers’ price testing and deal review needs, such as communicating model / parameter deficiency issues

• New deal review for structured and exotic products

• Analysis of new trades including day 1 P&L and reserve calculations and documentation

• Liaison with other group (front office, Operations and Risk) around correct booking of trades for risk and P&L purposes

• Develop and improve mark review methods of all model parameters such as volatility surfaces, interest rate curves, dividend curves, correlation coefficients and other inputs to the exotic structures to ensure proper derivative inventory valuation

• Interact with the trading desks and product controllers to resolve model and product related issues

• Specify and advise on valuation aspects of new infrastructure initiatives, including the automation of price verification applications, aggregation of those results and full revaluation price testing

• Maintain extensive documents on valuation and valuation adjustments methods to comply with internal and external documentation standards

• Assisting in management information systems (MIS) reporting, including monthly valuation package

• Performing ad-hoc trade and statistical analysis to support business decisions

This role will require extensive interaction with, among others, front office, Market Risk, Operations, Information Technology and other Finance teams.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7-8 years of experience within a product control/valuation environment with exposure to equity derivatives and knowledge of modelling, price testing and valuation issues

• Mathematical degree, ideally with a postgraduate qualification

• Outgoing personality, quick learner, ambitious, adaptable, strong team player, deadline and goal orientated

• Strong organisational skills

• Proactive: the environment requires a high level of initiative to address issues as they arise and confidence in analyzing and presenting financial data

• Good communicator: the role requires a high level of interaction with the trading desk, middle office and IT

• Team management experience

• Demonstrated ability to confidently present complex issues and data

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
